Sony Xperia Z1 Mini leaked in official docs as "Xperia Z1 f" - Snapdragon 800, 20.7MP camera confirmed

Back during IFA 2013, Sony pulled back the veil on their upcoming flagship, the Sony Xperia Z1. The device packed many of the high-end specs you'd expect from a flagship — Snapdragon 800 processor, 20MP camera, 3,000mAh battery — and true to most Androids these days, a large 5-inch, 1080p full HD display. While some would have you believe that bigger is always better, we like to think there is still very much a market for smaller, more pocketable smartphones.

Motorola DVX shows its face to the FCC, could be a cheaper version of the Moto X

Dreams of a $300 off-contract Moto X once faded, but Republic Wireless made those dreams a reality with their version of the device being sold for just $300. As great a value as Republic Wireless is, that's not a carrier many people are willing to join to be able to get a good smartphone for cheap. Alas, our hopes are still on that Motorola can deliver a version of the Moto X that could be had on any carrier for just $300. Those hopes might not be far off, with one “Motorola DVX” said to have whisked by the FCC.

New Jersey race on F1 calendar after all

New Jersey race on F1 calendar after all

Congratulations, New Jersey – you now have a Grand Prix. Formula One has just published the calendar for the 2014 world championship, and the Garden State is one of four additions, along with Austria, Russia and Mexico, to the schedule. New Jersey is one of several venues listed as "provisional," meaning it is still subject to circuit approval. Regardless, this is a major step forward considering the NJ race was originally scheduled for 2013 but was first pushed back because the track wasn't ready in time, and then canceled altogether due to funding issues.

Samsung executive says the Galaxy Gear "lacks something special", and I agree

I have said it time and again: the smartwatch market is a sleeping giant, simply waiting for the manufacturer who will do it right. Naturally, we assume that a large manufacturer like Samsung (or Apple) would have the most chances – given their resources and expertise. This was simply not the case for Samsung's Galaxy Gear, though, a smartwatch that failed to impress me one bit (see our hands-on for more). I am not alone when it comes to this stance.

Sprint To 'Wait And See' If It Will Drop BlackBerry Devices From Stores

A few days back T-Mobile announced that it will no longer be offering BlackBerry devices in its retail stores. Apart from keeping only one unit in a store for demonstration purposes, T-Mobile will only sell BlackBerry devices online to its customers. The move came amid uncertain times for BlackBerry, which is nearing a $4.7 billion acquisition and possibly losing its manufacturing partner. Sprint chief financial officer Joe Euteneur has said that the carrier will “wait and see” before it makes any decision regarding dropping BB devices from its retail stores.

ZTE Nubia Flagship To Come With Snapdragon 800 Chipset In November

ZTE, one of the smartphone manufacturers from China who are now starting to make its presence felt worldwide, has mentioned that they have plans to introduce a new flagship device for the masses later this November. This particular flagship smartphone will run on the Snapdragon 800 processor, and will obviously target the high end market. If the name Nubia sounds familiar to you, that is because right now, the ZTE Nubia Z5 and Nubia Z5 Mini have been released already, so it is not surprising to see them concentrate on the Nubia name to introduce a new flagship this November at best, and early December at worst.

Motorola Opens Shop In Waterloo, Could Be Interested In BlackBerry Staff

Just the other day we reported on some unfortunate news on how BlackBerry had announced an operating loss of about $1 billion, and in the process would be axing some jobs in a bid to save money. So what will happen to these unfortunate staff at BlackBerry. Where will they go to next. Well Motorola might be a possibility, especially since Google had recently confirmed that the company would be opening up shop in Waterloo, Canada, leading some to speculate that this could be a sign that Google and Motorola are interested in picking up some of BlackBerry's staff who might have been laid off as a result of the huge loss.

2014 Ram 1500 Diesel

Remember when Mahindra & Mahindra was close to offering a compact diesel pickup here. A million voices from the truck-and-bed-loving tribes of the Internet cried out at once in anticipation, only to be silenced in disappointment when it didn't happen. And this was for a jitney with a bed that didn't exactly look robust in its press photos. The message these fans had was clear: light-duty truck + a diesel engine = a prayer answered for a significant contingent of truck buyers.

Apple released its iPhone 5S this past weekend, although we're sure those of you who own an iPhone 5 may not want to pay full retail price for the next iPhone for one reason or another. You could always attempt to win the iPhone 5S through a sketchy giveaway on your social media network of choice, or you can just spend $24 to have those around you think you're someone who is way more important than you actually are by tricking them into thinking you own an iPhone 5S. MobileFun has launched a number of vinyl kits that allow you to transform your iPhone 5 into an iPhone 5S, with exception for all of the nifty new features, that is.

If you're a PC user, the keyboard combination “Control-Alt-Delete” might mean something to you if you've ever found yourself at the mercy of your extremely unresponsive machine. The ole Ctrl-Alt-Delete has probably saved you from an unnecessary reboot, which would require you to slightly shift your body to the side in order to push the power button on your PC tower, resulting in possible serious injury depending on how physically fit you are. Sony's Cyber-shot QX100 lens camera is fantastic, impractical (sample photos)

Our biggest concern when first handling the lens cameras was lag. Both connect to your phone via WiFi, which is fast enough for transfers, but a bit inconsistent when it comes to framing shots. There's a noticeable delay, and while we were able to look past it with the QX10, given that that model is designed for casual use, it's a significant issue with the QX100, which for all intents and purposes is a top-shelf device. The second issue, for the bigger model in particular, is its size. The QX100 was designed to accommodate larger components, and the addition is substantial.

2014 Dodge Durango

2014 Dodge Durango

Say what you want about the Dodge Durango, but ever since it came on the scene in 1998, it has occupied its own niche in the SUV market – not too small, not too big, tough, able, not always the best on the road and not always the best off-road. If it were a football player, it would be a tight-end that can block and catch. If it were a hamburger – a double burger with cheese and bacon, but not the Whopper.

I personally don't have a bedside lamp as my wife is the kind of person who likes to keep as much light out of the bedroom as possible. That means my usual pajamas completely covered in Christmas lights is not welcome in our bedroom, and neither is a lamp. But, if a lamp was welcome to my bedroom, I would certainly like it to use the power of my iPhone's flash in order to illuminate whatever it is I need light for. Shay Alkalay and Yael Mer from Raw Edges Design Studio came up with a way to make our iPhones as more than just a bedside companion that sucks up energy from our wall outlets on a nightly basis.
