Apple seeks to ban Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany

. Samsung's tweaks to the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 weren't enough to satisfy Apple's legal team. Apple successfully banned Samsung's German subsidiaries from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 after it accused the South Korea-based company of patent infringement. Samsung responded by releasing a modified Galaxy Tab 10.1N tablet it believed had addressed all of Apple's concerns. Unfortunately, Apple isn't satisfied with the changes and it wants to ban Samsung from selling the new tablet as well. A hearing for Apple's request for an injunction is scheduled for December 22nd, Dow Jones Newswires said.

We have no idea when Verizon actually plans to launch the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (though there is plenty of speculation), but whatever is going on Big Red is most definitely getting things prepared. Android Forum member Ytram did some digging in the Verizon website’s XML manifest and uncovered the images that will eventually make up the 360 degree preview of the handset.

A Bag Indiana Jones Could Love

A Bag Indiana Jones Could Love

I was very interested to see these Filson bags while surfing recently.  Filson makes a line of fabric and leather luggage, travel accessories and wallets, briefcases and totes, and field bags (think daily-carry gear bags).  They use twill and wool fabrics in their bags, and I especially love the looks of the medium Wool Field Bag.  The medium field bag in blue/black plaid is shown, but the bag is available in a variety of plaid fabrics, camo designs, and solid black.  There's a full-width slip-in pocket on the back and two pockets on the ends.

Researchers print bone-like material with 3D printer

With the advancement of our technology, 3D printers have been making great strides in replicating various objects, going beyond creating mere models to parts that can actually be used in real world applications. Now it appears that researchers have managed to use a 3D printer to create a bone-like structure that can be used as scaffolds to stimulate the growth of replacement bone tissue. This is achieved by optimizing a ProMetal 3D printer that is not only commercially available, but was originally designed to create metal objects.

Hack your monitor and 3D glasses for the ultimate privacy, fap to white screen!

You've always wanted a bit more privacy with your monitor (porn jokes imminent) and if you're willing to tear apart a spare LCD monitor and a pair of 3D theatre glasses, you'll get it. In lieu of a thicker tinfoil hat, Instructables' dimovi suggests removing the LCD's frame, cutting out its polarized film with a utility knife before removing the screen's film adhesive with a combination of cleaner and paint thinner and reassembling the monitor. Once complete, grab the glasses, cut out the lenses and combine them with the plastic film removed from the monitor before inserting them back into their frames.

Apple and Google just say no to ESRB mobile app ratings

You're familiar with the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), right. They're the lot who help moms and dads ensure that their kiddies only get their grubby mitts on age-appropriate content. Recently, the ESRB's reach extended into the mobile space, but it turns out that Apple and Google aren't down with the ESRB's handy dandy ratings system. Despite being invited to the party, the two tech behemoths with matching app purchasing portals are quite content with their existing controls, thank you very much.

. The media had a positive response when Microsoft unveiled Windows 8 earlier this year, and consumers seemed to have a high level of interest in seeing Microsoft's unique Metro UI on tablets. A preliminary study confirmed that the initial response to Windows 8 tablets on social networking sites was certainly positive; 63% of relevant Twitter posts analyzed after Microsoft's announcement said that Windows 8 looked more compelling than Apple's iOS platform. According to market research firm Forrester, however, Windows 8 might be too little, too late.

They said it’d be back sometime this week and it turns out things happened sooner rather than later. For those who already have the phone, an OTA upgrade will be headed your way shortly.

Radiologist replicates antique Stradivarius violin

The sound from just about any Stradivarius violin is said to belong to the heavenly realm, and when you couple it with the hand of an accomplished violinist, you can safely say that you have witnessed heaven here on earth – at least in terms of music. Dr. Sirr, a radiologist, claims to have ‘replicated' the antique Stradivarius violin with three different copies, something that is made possible using an X-ray scanner that is normally seen in action to detect cancers and injuries. The US-based group relied on a computerized axial tomography (CAT) scanner on the 307-year-old instrument in order to uncover its secrets.

I am not quite sure why Apple's founding documents has ended up at Sotheby's New York, but it seems as though if you want to bring home a literal piece of history to your living room, then you would do well to prepare at least $100,000 – although there are whispers on the street that the winning bid might even cost another 50% more than that. This three-page document will feature the John Hancock of Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak as well as Ronald Wayne, clearly establishing the presence and name of Apple Computer Company three and a half decades ago.

When I surf the Internet or read email, I always try to avoid places and situations that could be dangerous - I never open emails with attachments from people I don't know, I never click on random links in emails, and I avoid sites that sound skeevy.  Still, I once got a virus from a website that I had been to thousands of times before.  That virus wrecked my computer so badly that it had to be reimaged, and I consider myself lucky that I didn't lose any of my important files and that no one was able to steal my identity.

Researchers put smartphones on a power diet, drastically improve battery life

Nokia's Asha handsets already use browser compression to reduce data costs and power consumption for customers in the developing world, but the company's Finnish neighbours over at Aalto University have taken a totally different approach. By using a network proxy to squash traffic into bursts rather than a constant bit rate, and by forcing a smartphone's modem into idle mode between each burst, the researchers claim they can cut 3G power consumption by 74 percent.
