It might seem like only yesterday you purchased your trusty Nexus One, but the truth of the matter is that your phone is getting a little bit long in the tooth. One of the major perks of owning a Nexus-branded smartphone is that you get the Android updates before everyone else. However, it seems those first to jump on the Nexus bandwagon may not get the latest version of Android at all.

Nissan NV van stumbling out of the gate

Nissan NV van stumbling out of the gate

Nissan found out what full-size cargo van buyers wanted in a van, then created the NV to satisfy their requests. It's one thing to get a consumer to tell you what he wants, however, and another to get him to actually buy what you make for him. That's the issue Nissan faces. Dealers are sitting on a 205-day inventory of NVs as of the end of September. Everyone knew there'd be more to this than just "If you build it...", since the NV is the "new guy" in the segment, going against titans like Ford and General Motors as well as the runaway success of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

The newest addition to the Scion stable, the tiny iQ, looks to have received most of the attention this year around, with a total of four iQ concepts headed to the sands of Las Vegas. Analyst: ICS does not solve Android's main problem

Analyst: ICS does not solve Android's main problem

Android 4.0 clears up the fragmentation of OS and app versions for Android smartphones and tablets and has the task of making Android tablets much more attractive than they are today. DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim voiced concerns that Android 4.0 may not be enough for Google and tablet makers to achieve the breakthrough they are hoping for. In the end, Android does not solve Android's most pressing problem: Differentiation.
“The main challenge in the tablet market continues to be differentiation,” Shim wrote in a blog post.

Electric Walking Aid prevents patient from falling over

As careful as senior citizens might be, some of them still suffer from falls – and many a fatal injury has been caused by a fall, so walking aids will definitely come in handy to prevent such unwanted tragedies. The Electric Walking Aid that you see above is something else – developed by Murata Manufacturing, this is basically the prototype version of an electric walking assistance car. Relying on current technology that already sees action in Murata's promotional robots, Murata Seisaku-kun and Murata Seiko-chan, such technology will prevent them from falling over.

Spherical flying machine developed by Defense Ministry's Research Department

Spherical flying machine developed by Defense Ministry's Research Department

This is the world's first spherical flying machine developed by the Research Department at Japan's Ministry of Defense. This machine can hover like a helicopter, and take-off and land vertically. But because it works like a propeller plane standing vertically, it can fly forward at high speed using wings, which a helicopter can't do. This machine also has three gyro sensors, so even if it hits an obstacle, it can maintain its attitude and keep flying through automatic control.

“Because the exterior is round, this machine can land in all kinds of attitudes, and move along the ground.

Verizon Motorola Droid 4 smiles for the camera, has its specs leaked too

Rather unexpectedly, the upcoming Motorola Droid 4 for Verizon has been leaked today. Unexpected because its predecessor, the Droid 3, isn't really that old, and while we always enjoy new toys, Motorola may be pushing it by updating its phones so fast. There probably will be many unhappy Droid 3 customers who signed a two-year contract to get that only a few months before its successor arrives on the market. That said, we don't really know yet just when the Droid 4 will become available. But it does seem to be finished, more or less, so we're guessing that it will happen soon.

Yes, what you see above is the Droid 4.

Honda fêtes million-mile Accord driver with surprise parade, new model

Honda fêtes million-mile Accord driver with surprise parade, new model

There's nothing quite like a parade in small-town America. The floats made by kids at the local high school. The middle school's marching band. The people on stilts. The new Honda.
Wait, what? Well this was no ordinary parade. Sure, it had all those things, but the occasion wasn't Thanksgiving or Memorial Day. It was another milestone altogether: Joe LoCicero hit one million miles on his 1990 Honda Accord.
It's been an event that people (well, other people, anyway) have been monitoring on millionmilejoe.com. You see, while the average driver clocks around 14,000 miles on the odometer every year, LoCicero does more than four times that.

Spotty Software Updates Keep Android Users Stuck in the Past

We've known the Android platform was fractured for some time. Stop a handful of Android owners on the street, and odds are at least one of them will be running an out-of-date version of the OS. But we didn't know it was this bad.
Santa Barbara-area entrepreneur Michael DeGusta created a chart on Thursday detailing the frequency of OS updates across the myriad devices running the Android software. The results are ugly.

Out of the 18 released Android phones DeGusta surveyed, seven of them haven't ever run a current version of the Android operating system.

Chevy Silverado Realtree concept bound for SEMA (video)

Chevy Silverado Realtree concept bound for SEMA (video)

If you'd like a little less SEMA-fication with your SEMA, then the understated Silverado Realtree Concept might suit. Developed with Realtree outdoor outfitters, with whom Chevrolet has had a seven-year relationship, the concept is based on the 2500 Crew Cab and aims to be "the ultimate hunting pickup.". Powered by a Duramax diesel with a whopping 765 pound-feet of torque churning those 35-inch tires, we're thinking this thing can drag home whatever animal the crew of sportsmen inside can bag. Speaking of inside, the cabin completes the outdoorsy theme with dark cocoa leather seats bearing camouflage piping and blaze orange stitching.
