Jay Leno shows off the BaT Falcon of his dreams

Jay Leno shows off the BaT Falcon of his dreams

Jay Leno owns all kinds of cars: Steam powered, 100-year-old electric and modern-day supercars. His legendary garage is teeming with millions of dollars of iron. But his dream car has always been the 1963 1x2 Ford Falcon Sprint. So when he saw exactly the car on BringATrailer.com, he plunked down the $26,000 for the mint condition, seriously modified Falcon and sent a trailer.

This Falcon Sprint is built out exactly the way Leno says he would have built it. It has a 1965 289-cubic-inch small block under the hood with 360 horsepower and the battery in the trunk.

Energy Sistem beefs up its budget i8 slate with Ice Cream Sandwich inside

Low-cost tablets are a dime a dozen in the Android world, what with no name offerings from Ainovo to budget stalwarts like Archos. But there's always room for more competition and Energy Sistem seems intent on elbowing its way to a prominent place at the bottom. A mild update to its existing slate lineup, the Energy Tablet i8 keeps the same 8-inch LCD display and 1,024 x 768 resolution (in 4:3 aspect ratio) of its Gingerbread-baked predecessors, but this time packages it with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard.

In fact, Mark Zuckerberg saw his personal paper fortune drop not too long after his company went public, and analysts from different companies are still in two minds about whether to issue a Buy or Sell call on Facebook's shares. Having said that, another company which gained prominence due to their association with Facebook, Zynga, has not been doing too well on the stock market, either.

The incredibly often rumored ‘Facebook phone' or ‘Facebook smartphone' isn't going to happen. At least according to the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. Yesterday we brought you the latest rumor on the matter, claiming that HTC will manufacture the Facebook device and that it will launch next year. So that settles it, then. Or does it? This can be interpreted as “Facebook isn't going into the hardware manufacturing business”.

What Changed DOE Secretary Steven Chu's Mind About Hydrogen Fuel Cells. Natural gas now being retrieved from shale provides an enormous source of hydrogen. When Steven Chu, a Nobel Prize winning physicist, was named Secretary of the Department of Energy in the Obama Administration, he quickly redirected much of the Department's automotive research efforts into battery electric vehicles. So much so that proponents of hydrogen fuel cells complained loudly that the Secretary was starving their research efforts.

Automakers will no doubt welcome the Secretary's change of heart.

Would you be upset if Chicago moved your car without asking?

Would you be upset if Chicago moved your car without asking?

Chicago Kafkaesque system for moving vehicles to clear space for municipal work or TV/movie production is not working as advertised. In theory, it's straightforward: the city tows someone's car to an out-of-the-way parking space to make room and enters the new location into a database within 20 minutes of the move. Drivers looking for their cars can call 311 or go online to find out if their car has been relocated. In practice, it's typical big-city municipal Hell.
The problem, says the Chicago Tribune, is that the relocation info doesn't always make it into the system in a timely manner.

Mazda piggybacks on Ford Escape recall with 215,000 Tribute models of its own

A day after Ford issued a recall of 485,000 Escape crossovers from its 2001-2004 model years, Mazda has reportedly issued its own for the 215,000 examples of its Tribute, the Escape's mechanical twin. While it's the same engine configuration being recalled, the 3.0-liter V6 with cruise control, there is a difference in the recalls: Mazda is recalling 2002-2006 and 2008 model year Tributes, three more years of production than the Escape (the Tribute wasn't made in 2007).

Facebook's new Recommendations Bar pops up, just wants to be liked

Facebook's new Recommendations Bar pops up, just wants to be liked

Facebook's Recommendations Box sits passively on many websites, allowing us to engage or ignore as we see fit. But too much of the latter option has led to something slightly different: the new Recommendations Bar - a pop-up variant which, when integrated by your favorite page, plugs site-specific links based on your friends' thumbs and shares. The Bar is similar to the in-house recommendation pop-ups we're all familiar with, but adds a like button for posting the current page to your timeline. It shouts much louder than the Box, so it's no surprise that in early tests the new plug-in produced a three-fold increase in click-throughs.

The latest rumor surrounding the unannounced iPhone 5 is that it's scheduled to be released on September 21. The rumor stems from the typical unnamed source — this time from a company that manufactures iPhone accessories — who revealed the date to French-language website App4Phone (Google translation here). The iPhone 5′s predecessor, the iPhone 4S, originally launched here in the States on October 14, 2011.

Eden Quality XP 8x42mm Binoculars Review

Living in the woods of Southern Indiana, we see all sorts of wildlife on a regular basis. Deer, raccoons, coyotes and birds to name a few. Although I don't consider myself an actual bird watcher, I do have an above average knowledge about birds. Back when we were kids, my sister and I would bird watch from our bed room windows. We kept track of the birds we saw by writing down the date and time we saw them in spiral bound notebooks. We would be so excited when we saw a new bird for the first time. I can remember shrieking when we saw our first Pileated Woodpecker.
