. The latest version of Apple's (AAPL) desktop operating system, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, is now available for purchase in the Mac App Store. Apple announced on Tuesday during its third-quarter earnings report that the new OS would become available to users on Wednesday, and the $19.99 OS arrived right on schedule. The latest version of OS X includes hundreds of new features such as a revamped Messages app with iMessage support, enhanced iCloud support, notifications and Notification Center support, and new productivity apps.
