AT&T variant of Samsung Galaxy S4 has locked bootloader

AT&T variant of Samsung Galaxy S4 has locked bootloader

If any of you new AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 owners in the United States were hoping for that version of the device to be showered with custom ROMs aplenty, you might want to put those dreams on hold for a while. Steve Kondik, of CyanogenMod fame, has confirmed that the Ma Bell version of the Galaxy S4 launches with a locked bootloader. Locked doesn't always mean encrypted, of course, and although Kondik never used the latter word he seems to feel strongly about the fact that this model wouldn't be ideal to buy for those looking to flash custom ROMs like CyanogenMod or work with low-level hardware stuff.

Acer has just announced a spanking new notebook for the masses, where it comes with a rather tiny display, although it will not break the bank – which is a good thing, of course. The notebook's name. It is known as the Acer Aspire V5-122, where it will run on the Windows 8 operating system alongside a processor from Intel's once-mighty but now seemingly vanquished rival, AMD.

Auris Bluetooth Receiver Breathes New Life Into Your 30-pink Dock Connector Speakers

When Apple introduced the Lightning connector, it probably upset many older iPhone users who might have a ton of accessories, such as speaker docks, which relied on the 30-pin dock connector. Sure there is the adapter but it's a clunky solution, not to mention due to the way some speaker docks are designed, the adapter might not fit. In any case if you own a 30-pink speaker dock that you'd like to use again with your new iPhone 5, the Auris Bluetooth receiver might be the answer you've been looking for.

Game of Thrones was crowned as the most illegally downloaded show in 2012. Earlier this month when its Season 3 premiere aired, it was downloaded over a million times in one day, breaking the previous record for the largest BitTorrent swarm ever. The premiere was illegally downloaded the most in Australia. Game of Thrones airs on HBO and the network's programming president, Micheal Lombardo, doesn't mind all this piracy. Actually, he thinks that the blatant Game of Thrones piracy is akin to a compliment.

Mailbox For iPad In The Works, Developers Considering Mac Version As Well

If there's one thing about Mailbox that makes it such a great app is the fact that it has a clean user interface and includes the use of intuitive gestures, making organizing your mailbox a less complicated process. Unfortunately at this point in time the app is currently available for the iPhone, but it seems that according to its developer, Orchestra, they are currently working on a version that will bring the mail app to the iPad as well. No word on when the iPad version will be released since no ETA has been given, but hopefully for iPad owners it will be released in the near future.

LG Planning To Release Flexible OLED Smartphone This Year

LG has been working on flexible OLED displays for several months now, even going as far as predicting it would begin selling 60-inch flexible OLEDs by 2017. But before they can do that, they need to get these flexible OLEDs in the hands of consumers on a much smaller scale, which is why they're reportedly planning to launch a smartphone equipped with a flexible OLED some time this year. The report comes from The Wall Street Journal where they spoke with LG's vice president of mobile Yoon Bu-hyun. Yoon has stated LG's first flexible OLED smartphone will be released during the fourth quarter of 2013.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 release date still April 27th, but online only

Shortly after T-Mobile announced that its Samsung Galaxy S4 wouldn't be launching as planned today, another major US carrier has had the unfortunate need to announce delays. This news will be a tad easier to swallow for those on the Now Network, however. The original Galaxy S4 release date of Saturday, April 27th for Sprint is still on, but you'll only be able to get the device online and via telesales (1-800-SPRINT1). The in-store launch will have to wait until this sudden shipping crisis Samsung has experienced subsides.
That date is still sooner than T-Mobile users' first crack at the device, a crack which won't come until April 29th.

Most of the other Android smartphone manufacturers and vendors have already signed up with Microsoft's patent program, and now, ZTE of China has also jumped aboard the ship as ZTE and Microsoft both inked an agreement for the former's Android and Chrome patent licensing program. In case you didn't know, virtually every major Android player is paying royalties to Microsoft, since the company behind Windows has been able to successfully litigate against Android handset makers concerning a number of patents infringements.

Facebook Messenger Android App Updated With Stickers

Facebook Home brought over “stickers” for Messenger. Stickers are basically emoticons on steroids, they're similar to those we have seen on other chat applications such as LINE. These large and quite funny emoticons can be sent to your friends during chats. Earlier today we posted a guide on how to enable stickers on Android, but now Facebook Messenger for Android has been updated and it comes with stickers, no need to perform any trying procedures.
To get stickers on your Android device, just update the Facebook Messenger app. The latest version is now live and can be downloaded right away from Google Play Store.

Superb Logitech FabricSkin Keyboard Case For iPad

Superb Logitech FabricSkin Keyboard Case For iPad

Logitech has just announced a couple of new cases for the iPad and iPad mini. The Logitech FabricSkin is the high-end model which is covered with colorful fabric (Electric Blue and Sunflower Yellow to Mars Red Orange) that gives it a warmer and softer appearance when compared to most plastic iPad cases. The Logitech FabricSkin Folio case also has an integrated keyboard that is thin and elegantly designed. This is the sexiest keyboard/case design for iPad that I have seen. Frankly, this is something that Apple should have come up with a long time ago. I haven't tested it yet, but if you want to boost your productivity this is pretty much it.

A Reddit user has uncovered code in the MyGlass companion app which points towards the winking gesture for taking photos.

Sony NEX-3N review: superior shooting on the cheap

Sony NEX-3N review: superior shooting on the cheap

Last year, Sony's peculiar move to beef up its entry-level NEX left us puzzled, and generally unimpressed. The NEX-F3 was a fine mirrorless camera by most accounts, but its larger footprint left us hoping for a next-gen offering more in line with its predecessor, the NEX-C3 - a tried-and-true shooter that many Engadget staffers still turn to for review photos and trade shows, thanks to its consistent performance and light weight. We were quite relieved, then, to see that this year's device represented a return to the 2011 design, with a few very compelling additions, to boot.
