Holden claims new 'Ring lap time record for trucks (video)

Holden claims new 'Ring lap time record for trucks (video)

General Motors' thunder from Down Under, Holden, is claiming a new lap record at the Nürburgring. in the commercial and utility vehicle segment. You see, the company's amusingly powerful Ute is technically classified as a Class NA Light Goods Vehicle, so despite its car platform, one can technically argue that it's a commercial pickup truck. Kinda sorta.
In any case, Holden recently brought its new VF SS Redline Ute to the 'Ring, and the company's dynamics engineer, Rob Trubiani, posted a lap time of 8:19.47.

Nokia launched the Lumia 520 in April as its cheapest Windows Phone device ever. It's currently available in many markets around the world, including in the US - where T-Mobile is selling it as the Lumia 521. And it looks like it's going to be released by AT&T, too. Evleaks has unveiled a photo showing an AT&T-branded Nokia handset, unfortunately only from its rear side. Still, it's enough to see that it looks exactly like a Lumia 520.

The two Google Edition phones – Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One – went on sale yesterday via the US Play Store and they run Android 4.2.2. However, both have a new camera app, boot animation and wallpaper that do not match what's in current stock Android. Those have been ripped out of those phones, so you can install and enjoy them too. The new camera features new on-screen settings - the circular menu has given way to an arc. Also, you can use the volume rocker as a shutter key.

Beijing Auto investigating three European automakers for possible takeover

Beijing Auto investigating three European automakers for possible takeover

Beijing Automotive Group has said it plans to sell 400,000 units in markets outside of China by 2020. In order to accomplish this goal, the company intends to acquire a "medium-sized" European automaker with a good brand image for a takeover. Right now, Bloomberg indicates that BAIC has identified three unnamed potential candidates, and says that it wants to move while the European economy is still sluggish. Buying an existing automaker makes sense, as doing so will allow BAIC to hit the ground running with existing manufacturing and dealer networks.
This isn't the first time Beijing Auto has turned out of country.

iOS 7 Lightning Cable Authentication "Cracked" By Chinese Firm

A couple of weeks ago, it was found in the beta of iOS 7 that the software would prompt users when it has detected that they have plugged in an unauthorized Lightning cable. Since unauthorized cables tend to be cheaper than their official counterparts, it is understandable that some users might opt for them instead. However it looks like one Chinese firm has managed to "crack" that feature, bypassing the notifications altogether.
