Real Life Transformers On The Way?

Real Life Transformers On The Way?

It seems that a bunch of scientists over at MIT's Center for Bits and Atoms has managed to come up with a new generation robot which could prove to be a precursor to the fantasy organic robotic lifeforms that we have all come to know and love as the Transformers. Toy robots that were able to fold itself into different configurations are not rare at all, but actual robots which are able to do so.

Scientists Create Virtual Functioning Brain

University of Waterloo neuroscientist Chris Eliasmith has spent the better part of his working years in figuring out just how one is able to build a brain. Well, he has compiled his thoughts into a book that comes complete with instructions, describing the grey matter's architecture as well as the manner where all of the different components interact. In fact, Eliasmith's team has come up with Spaun, touted to be "the world's largest simulation of a functioning brain.". Spaun is capable of recognizing numbers, taking note of lists and remembering them while writing them down.

2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon is as homely as it is hugely practical

It ain't a looker, but the Ford Transit Connect Wagon is more functional than a Gobot and has returned the word "mini" to The Blue Oval's van selection. Ford is screaming from the Transit Connect Wagon's optional panoramic roof that it's "anticipating up to" 30 highway miles per gallon for buyers choosing the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. The other powerplant choice is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder, both connected to a six-speed transmission. Smaller families can go with the five-seater version, while the seven-seater will be available on a longer wheelbase for larger clans.

2013 Fiat 500e looks loud, runs quietly

Somebody wanted it, so we all got it – the Fiat 500e, the electric city car packed with enough Earth-saving tech that CEO Sergio Marchionne quipped (admittedly, early last year) that each one built will cost Fiat $10,000. The good news is that it not only comes with tons of EV-only gadgets and features, it does a good job, to our eye, of flaunting its electric looks and it offers the kinds of personalization one would expect of a hatch in the 500 family. The multi-contrast exterior is grouped into three color packages, including an e-Sport Package that pairs mean with green.

It was not too long ago where an anomaly was reported concerning in the Windows Phone Store, where users were informed that they had to re-purchase apps which they had already purchased. This issue seemed to have appeared for folks who were migrating to a new handset, although not everyone experienced this niggling issue. Needless to say, it was extremely baffling as well as elicited plenty of frustration if you were in the process of setting up a new device, because it could not download any apps which you picked up previously – unless, of course, you wanted a double charge.

Four DUNU Earphones review

Four DUNU Earphones review

After years of reviewing, I have realized an important fact: Many people either cannot afford many of the headphones/earphones I review, or even if they could, there is no way they're paying hundreds of dollars for excellent sound. I get that. But today, there so many affordable earphones available that can deliver audio which will put any free buds to shame. Plus, the choices are getting better and better every year. That's where DUNU comes in.

Whenever I see people on the street with headphones or earphones, it seems that they are either Monster Beats, or Apple's earbuds. These two models are at opposite ends of the audio spectrum.

This iOS notifications concept looks like a good idea

One of rather annoying features on iOS prior to iOS 5 was the notification system in which new messages or alerts showed up rather intrusively, but thankfully come iOS 5, banner notifications were introduced which were less intrusive. While banner notifications could be less intrusive, they still aren't exactly the most ideal as it would require the user to switch apps to reply to a message or email. However Sentry over at The Verge has come up with a rather interesting concept that will make those banner and system notifications a bit more friendly.

As we said before, the Blackberry 10 L-series has to be one of the worst kept secrets as far as RIM's products go, but then again we wouldn't be surprised if this was a ploy by RIM to keep us interested and in the loop and once again, the L-series has been caught on camera and instead of posing next to its sibling, it looks like it has been caught on camera once again next to the competition, this time in the form of the Nokia Lumia 820.  Unfortunately apart from the comparison there's not much else we can tell about the phone although based on the angle it looks like the L-series could be thinner than the Lumia 820.

In any case the folks at WinAppUpdate are back with more figures and it seems that in less than a month, Microsoft has managed to bring that number up to around 20,000 apps and are aiming for a pretty ambitious 30,000 apps by the time 2012 is out. Hmmm, if you are a huge fan of survival horror games such as the Resident Evil series, then surely you would be interested to know that Resident Evil Revelations has already been listed for home consoles by the Korean ratings board (South Korea, that is, maybe the North has just received their shipment of SNES consoles by now). Assuming this listing is correct and is not in error in any way, then we are looking at the probability of a Nintendo 3DS game being ported over to the home based consoles – something which does not happen all too often.

There's something about vintage Italian machinery. From the curvaceous lines of the Ferrari 250 GTO to the more exacting angles of the Lamborghini Espada, the cars hold the promise of something illicit. Something both scowling parents and stern-jawed law enforcement would thoroughly disapprove of if you happened to get caught in the act. It's one of the infinite reasons we love them, and the crew at Petrolicious have managed to capture that precipice of temptation on film.
CJ Bonura was kind enough to let the crew tag along during a little impromptu canyon run in his big silver Espada.
