According to an Apple patent application that was published, the Cupertino based technology giants are working on a new sound system that includes audio transducers along with multiple speakers to enable surround sound configurations on devices that look like it could be a MacBook. From the picture (above) it seems like Apple's focus here has been to optimize audio quality with the sizes of speakers decreasing to be fit into devices with smaller and thinner form factors.
