Sonny Lim sketches the next-generation Mini

Sonny Lim sketches the next-generation Mini

Mini has made it clear that it is hard at work on a successor to the automaker's bread-and-butter Cooper. Word has it we'll get our first glimpse at the next-generation Mini toward the end of next year, and when it debuts, Sonny Lim believes the machine will be smaller, more mainstream and far less gimmicky than the current creation. Having served as the senior designer with BMW DesignWorksUSA, Lim knows a thing or two about BMW styling.

VW Golf/Jetta CC too expensive to sell in U.S.

We've got bad news for you if you had your heart set on the smaller version of the Volkswagen CC. Car and Driver reports the German automaker has decided the four-door would simply be too expensive to sell in the American market. The article cites unnamed European sources as saying the vehicle still has a strong chance of making it to dealer lots in the EU, even though no final decision has been made at this point. By the time the machine made it to our shores, it would likely be more pricey than the current Passat. That's a problem.

Original reports suggested Volkswagen needed the U.S.

Barnes & Noble CEO says Nook will be getting NFC

Things in the e-book industry are getting more interesting. Microsoft's strategic partnership with Barnes and Noble intensified the excitement with the Redmond giant investing at least $605 million in a new subsidiary called “Newco” which reportedly includes the Nook e-reader. But an even more exciting news awaits for Nook users. In an interview with Fortune, Barnes & Noble CEO William Lynch talked about the future of the company.
Lynch said that part of their plan will be to start embedding NFC (near-field communication) chips into its own e-readers.

T-Mobile USA's chief marketing officer, Cole Brodman, calls it quits

Maybe he's finished running with the underdog, or maybe he's just done with the corporate gig altogether, but one thing is certain: as of May 25th, Cole Brodman will mark his exit from T-Mobile. For the past two years, Mr. Brodman has served as the carrier's chief marketing officer, and his departure concludes 17 years with the company. During his tenure, Cole Brodman railed against the subsidized handset game, helped drive the adoption of smartphones and - sadly - crushed our dreams for the potential of a Magenta-branded iPhone.
