With the convenience and slightly lower prices of e-books, it only makes sense that more and more people are starting to turn away from the print medium to the digital medium, and according to a research by the folks at Pew Internet, that certainly seems to be the case. According to their report, Americans who read e-books rose from 16% in 2011 to 23% in 2012. Granted these aren't exactly huge jumps, but it's definitely progress. Interestingly their report has also suggested that the medium in which e-books are consumed, it would seem as though tablets have edged out e-readers like Amazon's Kindle or the Barnes & Noble Nook.

Toyota proposes economic loss settlement worth up to $1.4 billion over unintended acceleration claims

Toyota announced a proposal today worth over a billion dollars to settle civil claims of economic loss related to alleged cases of sudden unintended acceleration in its vehicles from 2009-2010. Estimates place the cost of the settlement between $1.1 billion and $1.4 billion, which would, according to lawyers for the plaintiffs, make it the largest of its type in US history. US District Judge James Selna, who is presiding over the case in California, will review Toyota's settlement proposal as early as Friday.

Now, Automotive News is reporting that rather than redesigning the store or losing an estimated $1 million per year in bonuses, Heitz has instead sold his franchise to a cross-town rival, David Stanley Chevrolet.

Hollywood Studios Reportedly Using BitTorrent To Pirate Movies

Movie studios and record labels have always lamented how online piracy is destroying the industry and as we have seen in the past, these media giants have gone to rather extreme measures to punish individuals who have allegedly downloaded copyrighted material illegally. Interestingly it seems that despite their stance on the whole issue of piracy, it would seem as though some Hollywood studios might be guilty of pirating movies themselves. The folks at TorrentFreak are reporting that they are using BitTorrent monitor Scaneye to track down IP addresses they believe are associated with Hollywood studios.
