USA Today reports that there is a genuine shortage of truck drivers, and the problem is leading to pricier deliveries and longer waits on packages. There are plenty of reasons for the driver shortage, with a raft of retiring baby boomers and the $4,000 to $6,000 price for a six-week training course being among the main culprits.

One of the major issues with embedded medical devices is the lack of flexibility in existing electronics. Fortunately, researchers at the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University have developed a new material that can create electronic components capable of stretching to 200 percent of their original size. One of the major obstacles was how stretchable electronics with solid metal parts suffered substantial drops in conductivity but this solution involves a pliable three-dimensional structure made from polymers with 'pores'.

Windows 7 market share surpasses 50%

. Windows 7 for the first time ever has captured more than half of the global operating system market, according to data compiled by Web analytics firm StatCounter. The desktop OS had a 50.2% market share in June, leading the nearly 11-year old Windows XP OS, which controlled 29.9% of the market. Windows 7 was launched almost three years ago in October 2009, and while it received rave reviews, the operating system has seen a slower adoption rate than Windows XP, only surpassing the older version last fall.

3G-enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 arrives in Taiwan for just $332

After having made its way to the US, UK, India, and other places, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is now available in Taiwan. And, like the models sold elsewhere, it's very affordable. There's one difference though between it and the models launched in the US and the UK: this has a 3G connection, just like the tablet that was released in India. However, it's quite a bit cheaper in Taiwan than it is in India, interestingly. Starting today, you can buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 from all the major stores in Taiwan for NT$ 9,900, which is about $332, or €263 at the current exchange rates. Remember, this is with HSPA connectivity.

The minds at Puritalia have finally gotten around to taking the wraps off of their Shelby Cobra-inspired roadster. The Puritalia 427 is intended to serve as a modern interpretation of the legendary open-top built by Carroll Shelby. In addition to the gaggle of photos you see here, Puritalia has also served the final specs on the machine. The 427 uses an aluminum space frame chassis with chromoly steel subframes, which help maintain stiffness while keeping the roadster as lightweight as possible.
